Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere - at home, at work, in the cafe but also in the stands. Every year in Belgium, about 10,000 people suffer sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Only 2 out of 30 survive this.

The chance of survival doubles to triples when bystanders immediately start CPR. Yet today less than half of the witnesses effectively start CPR before the emergency services arrive, often out of fear of doing something wrong. That's why Club Brugge Foundation, together with the SupportersFederatie Club Brugge, wants to give as many supporters as possible the chance to learn CPR.

From the field to the stands

After 4 seasons of successful projects at 55 amateur football clubs, where CPR workshops and AED equipment were provided, Club Brugge Foundation is now shifting its focus to Club Brugge supporters clubs across the country. With the "Hand in Hand for Blue & Black" project, we want to make our supporter clubs more heart safe and give our fans the knowledge and confidence to save lives when it really counts.

What does the project entail?

Each recognized supporter club of Club Brugge can organize a CPR workshop in its own supporter club room. These sessions are given by experienced instructors of IMDH vzw ( known from the MUG Heli of AZ Sint-Jan Brugge) and combine theory with practice.

The Foundation pays for the trainer, takes care of the planning, organization and supervision in consultation with the supporters' club, and provides the necessary tools to make the evening a success.
