Foundation Chalet

Foundation Chalet

What is the Foundation Chalet?

The Foundation Chalet is a permanent meeting place at the fan square on the north-west side of Club Brugge's stadium. During Club's home matches, supporters can go there for a (hot) drink and a snack before, during and after the match within the vision of sustainable fan catering.

What started as a small-scale initiative to make hot drinks more accessible, mainly for wheelchair users, has grown into a permanent fixture on the fan square. Today, the Foundation Chalet is a unique place where experience, accessibility and social impact come together.

More than a chalet

The Foundation Chalet is more than an outlet. It is a living lab for sustainable fan catering. Within this project, we are experimenting with how sustainable choices around food and consumption can be integrated into the soccer experience in an accessible way. The goal is to introduce supporters to sustainable alternatives in a positive and accessible way.

The chalet acts as a test environment where sustainable products, communication and behavior come together. Small experiments and interaction with supporters will be used to examine how sustainable choices can be made more attractive and natural.

Taste With Impact

Under the heading "Taste With Impact," supporters are actively involved in this story. During matches and events, sustainable products are offered and visitors are given the opportunity to give their opinion on sustainable fan catering. Through short questions, tastings and clear communication, sustainability is made tangible.

In this way, the Foundation Chalet becomes a place where supporters not only consume, but also contribute to a broader movement around sustainable choices.

Sustainable fan catering

Within the Foundation Chalet, a conscious choice is made to offer food that responds to sustainability:

 • local, fair trade and organic products are offered wherever possible
 • Attention is paid to vegetable alternatives
 • Efforts are being made to limit food waste
 • reusable materials are given priority wherever possible

The chalet itself is built with sustainably certified wood (FSC/PEFC), a material that stores CO₂ during its lifetime. In the future, this concept will be developed further, including around renewable energy and water reuse.

Social character

The Foundation Chalet has a distinctly social character. It is run by volunteers who participate in Club Brugge Foundation's social projects. For them, the chalet is a learning place where they can gain experience in a public and professional environment.

The proceeds from the chalet go entirely to the social activities of the Foundation, such as the G-team, the Amp Team and the walking football team. In addition, initiatives such as "1 coffee = 1 coffee" also establish a direct link with social partners within Foundation. For example, for every coffee sold in the Foundation Chalet, we donate one coffee to Inloophuis 't Sas, which welcomes socially vulnerable Bruges residents.

Impact on and off the field

Club Brugge reaches thousands of supporters every week. The Foundation Chalet uses this unique position to make sustainability visible and discussable among a wide audience. By integrating sustainable choices in a recognizable and popular environment, it reaches a target group that is less likely to come into contact with classic climate initiatives.

As an international sports organization, Club Brugge does not only want to make a difference on a sporting level, but also on a social level. The Foundation Chalet is a concrete example of this.

Practical

The Foundation Chalet is open at Club Brugge home games, from 1h30 before kick-off, during half-time and until 1 hour after the game, on the fan square on the north-west side of the stadium. Be sure to stop by to sample our offerings.
