Last Saturday, June 8, the 4th edition of the Club Brugge Foundation Stadium Run powered by TREK took place in, around and across the Jan Breydel Stadium. During the 2 distances - 1891m and 5km - no less than 1,000 enthusiastic runners and walkers enjoyed a unique course along some exceptional areas of the Jan Breydel Stadium. Together they supported a good cause.
1,000 participants at successful 4th edition of Stadium Run
Challenging and unique course through the stadium
The doors of the Jan Breydel Stadium were opened wide so that the 1,000 participants of the Stadium Run could discover, by walking or running, some special areas of the stadium not otherwise accessible to the public.
The 1891m Run & Walk took walkers and runners past several exceptional areas of the Jan Breydel Stadium that are not otherwise open to the public. Among others, the players' tunnel, press room, Club Museum, security tower, VIP areas, players' home and dressing rooms were visited. Finally, the sacred turf of the Jan Breydel Stadium was visited, where plenty of selfies could be taken with Club YLA's freshly won Champions Cup and the Cup of Belgium!
The runners who took on the challenge of the 5km Fun Run were treated to a more extensive tour of the Olympia site, which also included a visit to the offices of the De Klokke administrative center, around the practice fields, the fitness and offices of Club NXT, and the luxurious Open Business Seats on the third floor of the lodge building before continuing on through the stadium.
Numerous entertainment was provided along the route. The djembe players of Jali Kunda provided a lot of atmosphere in the stadium, DJ Maver got the runners in the mood with rousing beats in the players' tunnel, and thanks to Keolis, even the real Club Brugge player bus was part of the course. At the end, participants still had the choice to run through a blue Color Street.
All participants received a unique medal, drinking bottle and TREK Protein Bar at the finish line.
"Unique experience to enjoy with the kids"
A lot of Club fans turned the Stadium Run into a true family outing and took the whole family for a tour of the stadium.
"My husband and I are both Club fans and often come to watch matches, but for our children this was a first pleasant introduction to Club Brugge and its stadium. They were hugely impressed by the different areas we were able to walk through. The highlight for the kids was undoubtedly the visit to the players' locker room. They proudly took a seat on the locker room seat of their favorite, Brandon Mechele, and imagined themselves to be professional footballers for a moment. Even for us, as long-time supporters, it remains special to be able to visit all those different locations ourselves. It was a unique experience together with our children," said Club fan Tanita from Gullegem.
Fund(d)raiser raises 13,000 euros for charity
All proceeds of this Stadium Run are for the benefit of the good cause: the sporting projects of the Club Brugge Foundation through which more than 250 people from underprivileged groups annually get the opportunity to sport at Club Brugge in an adapted way.
A total of 13,000 euros was collected for the benefit of the charity. The Stadium Run was made possible thanks to the support of Partner TREK, Travelpartner Keolis and the help of many volunteers.
