Laurens Goemaere (20) is leaving Club NXT after fourteen seasons and is heading to Standard de Liège. The midfielder is thus bringing to a close a long stint with Club Brugge, where he has played since coming up through the youth academy.
Goemaere began his soccer career at KFC Sparta Petegem and made the move to Club Brugge in 2012. There, he progressed through all the youth ranks and became a key player for Club NXT U23. During the 2022–2023 season, he made his professional debut in the Challenger Pro League, where he ultimately played 82 matches and served as captain on several occasions.
In addition to his appearances in the Challenger Pro League, Goemaere also competed on the European stage. In total, he played 19 matches in the UEFA Youth League, including 11 matches during the 2025–2026 season. During that campaign, he wore the captain’s armband and led his team to the final against Real Madrid U19. Along the way, he also made his mark by scoring four goals. In total, Laurens played 101 matches for Club NXT across various competitions.
Laurens is now saying goodbye to Club NXT and Blauw-Zwart, bringing to a close a long journey at Club Brugge, where he grew from a youth player to a key player and captain. He will take the next step in his career at Standard de Liège. Good luck, Lau!
