The last international break of 2024 is over. Some players have not returned to the club unscathed. For example, Nilsson and Meijer will have to miss a few more matches. De Cuyper and Seys, however, will be deployable.
Belgian internationals Maxim De Cuyper and Joaquin Seys are both ready to play for the home game against STVV next weekend. Seys had to leave the field early during the game against Beerschot just before the international break. He was able to recover for a week and rejoined the group this week, along with De Cuyper. De Cuyper had to leave the national team, with a minor injury, after the match against Italy. Both wingers are no longer affected and will make the selection.
Gustaf Nilsson is back on the field, but is still working an individual program for now. The Swedish striker will miss the match against STVV. Whether he will travel with them to Glasgow for the Champions League or make it to the match against Dender next week is still uncertain.
Bjorn Meijer had to leave the practice international against England U21 early this week after 15 minutes, grabbing his upper leg without contact and lying down immediately. An MRI scan confirmed the injury to the quadriceps. The Dutch defender will again be out of action for several weeks.
Finally,Hugo Siquet also missed training this week due to illness. Whether he is sufficiently recovered for this weekend's clash with STVV is still uncertain.
