Nicky Hayen: "A win-win situation for us"
Our coach was satisfied after the win against Eendracht Aalst Lede. "A comfortable win. We immediately pressed the gas pedal and then it's nice that you quickly get ahead 2-0. After that, the pace dropped a bit, when we really should have pushed on. That could be better, but all in all it was a good game."
It was a fiercely changed team. That was a conscious choice by Hayen. "A lot of new guys, but this is a good lesson for them. Playing in front of about 17,000 supporters is a new situation and they have to take that experience with them. You have to teach them to discover that and today was an ideal match for that. It's a win-win situation. The guys who needed to be rested had that and the young players were able to do experience."
About the match he is also satisfied, except for the goals against. "We kept control for 90 minutes, except for a brief loss of control with the goal against. That's unfortunate for us, but for the away fans that's actually nice. We recorded a comfortable win and are through."
About Celtic's interest, he is very clear. "I know I'm on lists, but which one it is I don't know. I'm happy here and want to work really hard to get that 20th national title."
Mechele: "It's fun to score."
Brandon Mechele suddenly had many new teammates in the starting lineup, but it turned out well. "We tried to make something out of it with high tempo. It was a little searching because we never all played together. That way we also gained confidence for the next game."
The defender also picked up his goaltending again. Scoring is going smoothly for him. "Good goal huh? It's nice to score for a change. Maybe the most important goal, because after that it went easier. In itself a successful evening."
The opponent's offensive effort he also praises. "We have a lot of young guys in the team who hadn't played as much, so it's nice that they are getting their chance now. It was also nice to play against Aalst who also really wanted to play soccer. 6-1 and through to the next round. I would have preferred a clean sheet, but it's no different. We scored a lot of goals so we are satisfied."
Sandra: "Exactly like we were playing for NXT"
Cisse Sandra had a déjà-vu. He played back with many teammates from Club NXT. "We were still laughing about it on the bus, it was exactly like we were going to play a match for Club NXT. We did well as a team. We started sharp and pushed through. That's a great result."
About his own match he is also satisfied. You should be with two goals behind your name. "I think I played a good match. In previous matches I also had some chances, so now it's gratifying to score twice. It's also good for the other young players to get minutes and take their chances. It was a good night."
