Romeo Vermant: "First goal came with great timing"
"A great game today; we put in a very strong first half, but forgot to claim the reward. My first goal came with great timing, just before we headed in. We knew we would have to keep pushing through in this momentum. With continuing pressure, and the goals would follow from itself. And that's what we did. It's fun to be scoring in the Battle of Flanders, but each game has its importance, and we want to win them all. Sunday's game is a cup tie, that's a completely different given. We are going for the win!"
Nicky Hayen: "Showed we have offensive prowess"
"We should always have been in the lead after that first half. Our football was great, and we had the chances to score, but didn't make the most of them. We showed we have offensive prowess in the second half. The supporters kept rooting us on and the goals followed. After the 4-1 we let the pace slow down, and Gent never found its way into the game. The perfect dress rehearsal to next Sunday's encounter."
Christos Tzolis: "Now live towards the Cup Final"
“I reckon we played another great game. Despite the fact that we had the better of the game, Gent managed to score in the first half. We kept a cool head after that goal, looking for that equaliser. It's fair to say that we weren't efficient enough in the first half, again, but we never really panicked. We managed to put it in balance through Vermant just before we headed for the dressing room, so we knew what we had to do in the second half.”
“Despite the high temperatures, we managed to keep the pace high after the break, keeping Gent from luring on the break. We felt that we were in full control, and that the goals would surely come, which they did. As to me personally, I'm obviously very happy with those two goals. Special kudos to our captain Hans Vanaken too, as he provided the assist for my second goal. He was in a scoring position, but still handed it to me to allow for that 4-1. We are feeling great, obviously, and we can now live towards next Sunday's Cup Final with a tranquil mind. The Final being a one game tie, it's still something we need to be aware of, we need to remain very focused. The fans are very eager to win that cup, but we also want to lift it on Sunday evening. Chances like these don't come by every season, so you can be assured we will be giving it all we've got to win that Cup come Sunday.”
