On Saturday, June 13, the 6th edition of the Club Brugge Foundation Stadium Run took place in and around the Jan Breydel Stadium. A total of 914 walkers and runners lined up at the start of this unique running event, which once again perfectly combined sports, fun, and the Club experience. Together, they raised 13,500 euros for the social and sports projects of the Club Brugge Foundation.
A sporting experience in and around the stadium
Participants could choose between two routes: a symbolic 1,891-meter Run & Walk, named after the year Club Brugge was founded, and a 5 km Fun Run.
Both routes took participants to places where fans don’t normally go. They ran and walked through the stadium, past the players’ area, the locker rooms, the Club Museum, the press room, and various unique behind-the-scenes locations at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

During the Stadium Run, finishing time was irrelevant, and the focus was entirely on the experience. This year, too, participants were treated to many special moments along the way. Along the route, participants were cheered on by various musical groups, including the Bruges student brass bandAd Omnes, the Scottish ensemble Silver Thistle Pipes & Drums, the djembe players ofJali Kunda, and several DJs.
Thanks to travel partner Keolis, fans were able to walk right through the Club Brugge team bus. The best goals from the past season were replayed on the stadium’s large LED screens. In addition, many participants eagerly had their photos taken with the championship trophy and experienced the stadium from a completely different perspective.
A new feature of this edition was the integration of the freerunning hall in the East Stand of the Jan Breydel Stadium. There, the non-profit organization Basics gets young people active through urban sports.
As they left the stadium, participants were immersed in a blue Color Street. On their way to the finish line, they also walked between the two iconic stars that were symbolically carried into the center of Bruges at the end of May.
13,500 euros for charity
The course fit perfectly with the Stadium Run’s athletic and social mission: getting people moving, lowering barriers, and introducing participants to the stadium’s operations in an accessible way.
All proceeds from the Stadium Run go to the social-sports projects of the Club Brugge Foundation. This enables more than 200 people from disadvantaged groups to participate in sports at Club Brugge in an adapted way every week. (continue reading below the photo)
