The 'Club Brugge Amp Team' participated last week in the very first edition of the EAFF Amputee Football Europa League in Ankara, Turkey. The international tournament brought together clubs from six different countries for three days of high-level amputee soccer.
The Club Brugge Amp Team is a separate soccer team within Club Brugge Foundation for individuals with an amputated limb. The team gives players the opportunity to play their favorite sport within a professional and warm Club environment, with special attention to inclusion, talent development and team experience.
In Ankara, Club Brugge Amp Team had the opportunity to compete against strong opponents from all over Europe. Also participating in the tournament were Vicenza Calcio Amputati (It), WKS Śląsk Wrocław AMP Futbol (Pol), FC Crusaders (Uk), Olympique Marseille (Fra) and host and reigning EAFF Champions League winner Başkent (Tur). The high level of the matches made this European participation a particularly instructive and valuable experience for our team.
Club Brugge Amp Team competed against Vicenza Calcio Amputati, WKS Śląsk Wrocław AMP Futbol and FC Crusaders. More than the results, the main focus was the opportunity to represent Club Brugge on a European stage, grow as a team and give amputation soccer extra visibility.
Club goalkeeper Arne voted Best Goalkeeper
An extra beautiful moment during the closing ceremony was reserved for Club goalkeeper Arne Depree. After the tournament, he was named Best Goalkeeper. A handsome individual award, which at the same time underlines the strong level and close team spirit of Club Brugge Amp Team.
With this participation, Club Brugge Amp Team writes another beautiful chapter in the story of inclusive soccer within our Club. The experience in Ankara confirms how sport connects people, lowers barriers and gives players the opportunity to show their passion and talent at an international level.
