Club Brugge Foundation and the Red Cross have joined forces to bring the importance of blood donation to the attention of Club Brugge supporters and sympathisers. The "We and our fans give blue blood" project aims to motivate as many people as possible to register as blood donors. Club Brugge is convinced that their supporters have the power to make a difference and save lives.
Why is giving blood important?
Blood and plasma donation is vital for people who are seriously ill, after road accidents, operations or childbirth. The Red Cross is responsible for supplying hospitals in Flanders with safe blood products. It is therefore very important to have sufficient blood in stock. The facts and figures surrounding blood donation are impressive. For instance, 70% of the population needs blood, plasma or platelets at some point in his/her life. Yet only 3% of Flemings donate blood. Club Brugge therefore organises blood collections twice a season in cooperation with the Red Cross Flanders.
Club Brugge's blood collections take place in the players' tunnel (West stand) of the Jan Breydel Stadium, where you can also visit the A-team dressing room. The Red Cross will check your eligibility to donate blood or plasma. You can check your eligibility to donate blood, plasma or platelets yourself via the Red Cross website.
