Since the 2021 season, all stands in the Belgian league will be smoke-free. An initiative that Club Brugge has been pursuing for several years and in which it wants to be a supporting and helping partner for the Pro League. To make its stadiums smoke-free, the Pro League is working with the Foundation Against Cancer. This foundation has the experience to guide the process towards a smoke-free stadium, including through training and sensitising stewards.
At Club Brugge, we want to ensure that all our supporters can experience football in a non-harmful environment. After all, passive second-hand smoke is very harmful to health, just like smoking itself. In a football stand, you do not have the opportunity to move when a smoker is sitting near you. So you are forced to passively smoke along. We also want to set an example to children who come to watch football. We think it is important that every child can grow up in a smoke-free environment and therefore register in the "Generation Smoke-Free" campaign.
From now on, therefore, Club Brugge supporters can experience the game in a smoke-free Jan Breydel stadium..
