EACD, the European Academy of Childhood Disability, presented this award last Thursday evening in recognition of Club Brugge Foundation's long-standing commitment to making sports and sports experiences accessible to young people with disabilities.
In the presence of some 1,300 people, the largest European scientific congress on neuromotor disabilities in children is taking place this week in Bruges. Linked to this congress, the 'EACD+ Impact Creation Awards' were presented Thursday evening in the Bruges city hall. Five organizations were honored for supporting and promoting widely accessible sports and cultural initiatives for persons with disabilities.
Our Club Brugge Foundation was among the winners and received the EACD Impact Creation Award 2024 from the hands of Professor Elegast Monbaliu, EACD Bruges 2024 Meeting President: "Club Brugge Foundation is an example of how a soccer club uses its network to boost inclusive sports. We are pleased to honor them with an EACD+ Impact Creation Award for their social commitment that they are realizing not only in the short term, but also in the medium and long term. Their strongly embedded vision and mission to help young people with disabilities participate in sports and make the sports experience accessible means a big difference for young people with disabilities."
Head of Foundation Peter Gheysen accepted the award on behalf of Club Brugge Foundation: "With this, we as Club Brugge demonstrate that we not only create champions on the field, but also in society. By offering opportunities for everyone, including people with disabilities, to participate in sports and sports experiences, we really want to make a difference. This beautiful award is also a crowning achievement for the day-to-day work we accomplish together with our project partners, staff and volunteers."
Director of Club Brugge Foundation Bart Coeman was also delighted with this award: "It is a huge honor for Club Brugge Foundation to receive this award. This recognition confirms our longstanding commitment and dedication to make a positive contribution to society through our socio-sports projects, especially for those who have a harder time. We are proud of our track record and are ambitious to continue to do so in the future from the strength of Club Brugge."
