Racism and discrimination is a current reality in society, from which, unfortunately, even the world of soccer is not spared. At Club, we see diversity just as an asset. Within the multicultural composition of our core of players, with more than 15 nationalities, our Angolan defender is a rock, our Danish midfielder provides the necessary dose of swagger and our Canadian winger gives the perfect cross to our Spanish striker. Together they form one team and pursue one goal together. Club Brugge wants to use its strength and impact on society and does so together with schools through the foundation project Give Racism The Red Card.
DEVELOPED CURRICULUM FOR SECONDARY EDUCATION
Together with some other top European clubs and numerous teachers, Club has developed a ready-made teaching package of 6 lessons around this anti-racism and anti-discrimination campaign. These lessons fit seamlessly with the final term "Citizenship education: 'citizenship competencies including competencies on living together'". The classroom lessons take place at school and are taught by in-house school teachers. To this end, Club Brugge Foundation has compiled a comprehensive teacher's manual and student workbook.
At the information moment, the school project was carefully explained to the teachers, so that they were fully aware of how the program works.
350 pupils from schools in Bruges, Bredene, Zelzate and Jette participated in the extra edition of Give Racism The Red Card. All schools were provided with a complete ready-to-use curriculum. In addition to student workbooks and teacher manuals, the package was supplemented by Club Brugge Foundation with a lot of materials to easily carry out the interactive exercises from the workbook.
