On Friday May 16, Football Memories - a project by the Club Brugge Foundation in collaboration with the Flanders Alzheimer League - celebrated the end of a first season. Club Brugge hosts monthly meetings for people with (young-onset) dementia and their caregivers through Football Memories, where they look back to the rich history of Club Brugge through photos, memorabilia and stories that evoke their memories.
Succesful season finale in expo
While regular Football Memories sessions take place at the Jan Breydel Stadium, the season finale brought together all participants from previous sessions for a special visit to the Blauw & Zwart Forever expo, located in the heart of Bruges next to the city hall. This unique exhibition, organized by the Bruges City Archives in collaboration with the Club Brugge Foundation, runs until the end of August and showcases gems from Club's extensive archive. A perfect setting to relive football memories together.
No fewer than sixty enthusiastic participants and their caregivers enjoyed a guided tour of the expo, with fond memories of the past and a shared love for Club Brugge taking center stage. After the visit, the first season of Football Memories was joyfully wrapped up with delicious cakes, pastries, and refreshing drinks.
Season 2 of Football Memories in September
Amid the conversations our attention already turned to the second season of Football Memories, which will begin in September.
Once again, monthly gatherings will be held to reminisce about Club Brugge and to connect with one another in a safe, welcoming environment built on a shared passion and stories.
